After his ordination to the sacred Priesthood in 2021, Fr. Thu Truong, FSSP., served as Parochial Vicar of St. Mary’s on Broadway from 2021-2024. Our Fraternity Priests usually have to serve in at least two parishes before they can be assigned as Pastor to one of the FSSP apostolates. Last month, Fr. Truong received a message from the Provincial Superior, Fr. William Lawrence, FSSP., that his next assignment will be at Immaculate Conception Church in Omaha, Nebraska where our former Pastor, Fr. John Berg, FSSP., served since 2021 before being reelected as Superior General of the FSSP at their General Chapter in July 2024.

Fr. Truong will be missed at St. Mary’s for his holiness, humility, joy, kindness, generosity and for the many spiritual lessons he taught us during his sermons and throughout many talks he gave at meetings with the Ladies sodalities, the Men’s group, and the Young Adults group, and so forth.

Please keep Fr. Truong and all FSSP Priests in your prayers.

A Daily Prayer For Priests
(allegedly prayed daily by Saint Therese of Lisieux)

† O Almighty and Eternal God, look upon the Face of Thy Christ, and for love of Him Who is the eternal High-priest, have pity on Thy priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in them by the imposition of the Bishop’s hands. Keep them close to Thee, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray Thee for Thy faithful and fervent priests; for Thy unfaithful and tepid priests; for Thy priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for Thy tempted priests; for Thy lonely and desolate priests; for Thy young priests; for Thy aged priests; for Thy sick priests; for Thy dying priests; for the souls of Thy priests in Purgatory.

But above all I commend to Thee the priests dearest to me: the priest who baptized me; the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Thy Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed or helped me and encouraged me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way, particularly (your priest’s name here). O Jesus, keep them all close to Thy heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen.

Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many and holy priests. Amen. †

A Prayer for Priests

† O Jesus, our great High Priest,
Hear my humble prayers on behalf of Thy priest, Father [N].
Give him a deep faith
a bright and firm hope
and a burning love
which will ever increase
in the course of his priestly life.
In his loneliness, comfort him
In his sorrows, strengthen him
In his frustrations, point out to him
that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show him that he is needed by the Church, he is needed by souls, he is needed for the work of redemption.
O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to thine heart thy son who is close to thee because of his priestly ordination, and because of the power which he has received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs him so much.
Be his comfort, be his joy, be his strength, and especially help him to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy. Amen.†
