Proper Etiquette

As a matter of proper etiquette, there is no genuflection or deep bowing given to the processional cross when passing by. Genuflections are only proper to the cross for Good Friday exposition and for a procession in which the bishop imparts his blessing. A relic of the true cross is also reverenced with a genuflection. A head bow is how the sacred ministers reverence the cross before processing. The faithful can imitate with a head bow when the cross passes by.
