St. Mary’s wishes everyone a very happy and blessed feast day!
Today, on the Octave Day, or Eighth Day, of Christmas, the Church commemorates Our Lord’s circumcision which, according to the Old Law, occurred eight days after His birth. This was the first time Our Blessed Lord shed His Precious Blood. On this day, He was also given the name “Jesus,” which means “Savior.” By this Name and by the shedding of His Blood, His Passion for our salvation was foreshadowed.
The Church also honor’s today in a special way the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
