The Pastor, Fr. Berg, FSSP, gave the sermon during which he quoted the following from the sermon given by Rev. O’Connor, SJ, Bishop of Pittsburgh, on the day of the dedication: “It is a massive structure, solid in materials, beautiful in proportion, and well calculated as a work of art, to call forth our admiration. But, beyond this, when it is contemplated that, in connection with it, is the sublime purpose to honor God, and, through it, carry on God’s work, there is an emotion which arises, higher and holier than admiration. Here the Church has erected another tabernacle in which is to be offered an unbloody sacrifice, and carry out the purpose of Christ in giving himself as a sacrifice.”
