The Preface and Mass of the Holy Trinity

Preface of the Holy Trinity has its origins in the Spanish Church. Alcuin of York, Court Liturgist of Charlemagne, incorporated this Preface in the Votive Mass of the Holy Trinity which he wrote. This Votive Mass, which is still in the traditional Roman Missal for Mondays, was used as the basis for the Mass prayed on Trinity Sunday.
