- Genuflections where the right knee touches the ground should be made to the Blessed Sacrament reserved in the Tabernacle, to relics of the True Cross, and to the unveiled crucifix on Good Friday.
- Genuflections where the left knee touches the ground should be made to Cardinals outside of Rome, the local Bishop, and other members of the hierarchy during the liturgy.
- A Double genuflection, where both kneels touch the ground (the right one touches first and the left one is lifted first), is made when entering or leaving the presence of the Blessed Sacrament when it is exposed and to the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose on Holy Thursday and Good Friday.
