At the June meeting of the Pastoral Council the topic of parish planning was raised. Monsignor Plante noted that his full-time status begins on July 1, 2015 but in the position of Administrator (one year term) as opposed to Pastor (six year term). Because of the uncertainty of his tenure and the future of St. Mary, it was determined that a PC sub-committee be formed to address this matter in a proactive way. The Sub-Committee on Planning held its first meeting on July 21, 2015.
With a shortage of priests one of the new models of church administration is to have one pastor sharing two or three parishes. With this in mind, the sub committee has created an ad hoc group headed by Wilson Villamar to visit our neighboring parishes because we need to get to know them.
A second ad hoc group will be formed to visit parishes that already share a pastor like St. Joseph and St. Patrick in Burrillville, RI.
