“Cantare amantis est…Singing belongs to one who loves.”
Augustine of Hippo
Music is an integral part of the Liturgy. The purpose of the Music Ministry is to support the assembly in singing the hymns and responses and to lift their hearts and minds through music. Along with the assembly, the choir, cantors, and instrumentalists are all part of the worship experience.
For the Choir, we are always looking for new members – – women and men, teens and young adults, retirees, music majors, and amateurs alike – – all are welcome! Adult Choir meets Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm in the chapel and 9 am before the 10 am mass. Additional rehearsals are held seasonally to prepare for holidays, feasts and special liturgies.
We ask that volunteers have:
- a strong commitment to helping the assembly pray through music
- availability for an evening rehearsal, usually once a week
- an openness to working together as an ensemble
- a willingness to build a community of service in our parish.
This ministry has formed the Good News Youth Choir – – a new singing group for children in grades 3 and up. The children will rehearse seasonally, with dates and times of rehearsals published in the parish bulletin. No experience necessary, but a love for singing is important!
