Ministry to the Sick

“I was sick and you took care of me.”  Matthew 25:36

Visiting the sick is an outreach of the Ministry of Care that is intended to provide physical and spiritual presence, prayer, and the Eucharist.  We have a “connecting to nature” for nursing home patients, as well as, providing animal assisted therapy.

We provide services to:

  • The sick or homebound in and around the Providence area
  • Local hospitals, including The Miriam and RI Hospital
  • Nursing homes,  including Park View Nursing Home
  • Philip Hulitar Center of Home and Hospice Care of RI

We would like to expand this ministry so that more frequent visits may be made to individuals who are yearning for attention, a kind word, companionship, or a loving act. Plans to expand this ministry include:

  • Sitting with those who are heartbroken at the loss of a loved one
  • Meeting with a homesick college student
  • Having coffee with a neighbor who is new to the area
  • Reaching out to someone who is struggling with depression

“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore,
To send out workers into his harvest field.”
 —- Matthew 9:37-38
