The vision of the Liturgy Committee is to offer our parish diverse, thoughtful, reverent and faith-filled experiences of prayer and worship. Since the liturgy is considered the “source and summit” of Christian life (Sacrosanctum Concilium), the Liturgy Committee is actively connected to and concerned with all aspects of the liturgical and sacramental life of the parish. The committee’s focus is bringing all members of St. Mary’s faith community into “full, active, and conscious” participation in the liturgy.
Responsibilities include discerning the worship/liturgical/prayer needs of the parish, planning liturgical and paraliturgical celebrations for seasons and feasts, and training and coordinating the various liturgical ministries of the parish. On an ongoing basis, the committee will spend time researching important documents that guide its work including The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Sacrosanctim Concilium, Environment and Art in Catholic Worship, and Music in Catholic Worship.
Those who are interested in becoming involved in our work — be it planning, preparing art and environment, making decisions around music, developing minister training, or simply accompanying the committee in their study of the documents — all are welcome.
